CuuLong Joint Operating Company, a major operator in Vietnam, needed to conduct pressure testing and sampling for pay zone identification, but the low-mobility and high-overbalance environment posed a challenge for the operation. Clastic formations were encountered with variable mobility values ranging from 0.7 to 237.4 mD/cP. The pressure testing and sampling operation was also subjected to a high overbalance of up to 1,089 psi (7,508 kPa). Test time was significantly limited due to the sticky-hole conditions in the deviated wellbore. A time-on-wall limit of one hour, irrespective of the mobility of the formation, was imposed for pressure testing and sampling.
