An operator working offshore Angola needed
to mill a window in 95/8-in. casing to sidetrack
an existing wellbore following a failed gravel
pack operation. The hole inclination was
86° at the desired kickoff point of 4,120 m
(13,517 ft), which raised concerns about the
reliability of measured surface data due to the
additional drag created by 1,000 m (3,280 ft)
of near horizontal wellbore. A casing collar
log was requested to ensure the whipstock
was set in an optimal location to prevent
the milling assembly from milling through a
casing coupling. The operator contracted
Baker Hughes, a GE company (BHGE), to
perform the operation. xSight-Longbow-Enabled-Slot-Recovery-Offshore-Angola-cs.pdf
