A top 10 producer in North Dakota’s Bakkenshale play switched the production system
in a well from an electrical submersible
pumping (ESP) system to rod lift when the
production rate declined. However, the rod
lift system could not lower fluid levels in the
well. The operator believed a different form
of artificial lift could increase production
significantly and approached Baker Hughes,
a GE company (BHGE), for an alternative
solution. The operator wanted a form of
artificial lift that could lower bottomhole
pressure under 500 psi and provide flow
rates over 500 B/D without failures due to
rod load or gas interference. flexpump-productionwave-doubled-production-dakota-cs.pdf
