A refinery in North America needed to lower the levels of oil and grease (O&G) and total suspended solids (TSS) across its dissolved flotation units (DAF) after implementing a change in crude slate. Their existing treatment program was not sufficiently breaking the emulsion, allowing oil and solids to exit in the DAFs effluent. Solid deposition was found to be ranging from 100-250 ppm for both O&G and TSS. The refinery’s effluent target level objectives were less than 50 ppm.
