A major offshore operator in Asia needed to measure the in-situ stress in a target well in caprock for defining the safe water injection limits in the field. The 12 ¼-in. open hole well was drilled using water-base mud (WBM) with a 41° deviation and had a bottom hole temperature of approximately 140°F (60° C). The operator wanted to measure the fracture closure pressure through micro-fracturing (microfrac) testing.
