A major customer in Thailand had contracted Baker Hughes, a GE company (BHGE), to deploy the Thailand Wellbore Intervention team in over 800 plug-setting and casing cuts on this shallow-well plug and abandonment campaign. Traditionally, these conventional operations required two trips. The customer tripped into the hole to set a plug, flow cement, and then made an extra run to cut a casing string. Alternatively, an operator could run a tool into the wellbore, mechanically set a plug, cut the casing, but would no longer have the option to set cement. Naturally, with two runs needed, a customer incurred all the associated costs in rig time costs and health, safety and environmental (HSE) handling risks.
