VIBO VALENTIA - June 27, 2018 - With talent and people at the core of our strengths at BHGE, the work that we do with universities remains central to fostering new collaborations and furthering our technology ambitions.

First established in 1961 and spread across over 170.000 sqm, the BHGE site in Vibo Valentia, Italy has been for more than 50 years the center of excellence for the development and manufacturing of air coolers for a variety of applications in the oil and gas sector.

Through its capabilities in Vibo, BHGE has been a global leader in the fabrication of air coolers, heat exchangers, auxiliary skids – part of the Turbomachinery & Process Solutions (TPS) portfolio – since the late 1960s, supplying well over 10,000 bundles for industry-wide applications. Solutions provided are suitable for extreme environments – desert, offshore and fully winterized units for very cold climates. The facility, which represents a digital multimodal factory, also serves other BHGE product companies, such as Oilfield Equipment (OFE) and other GE businesses, such as GE Aviation.

With talent and people at the core of our strengths at BHGE, the work that we do with universities remains central to fostering new collaborations and further our technology ambitions. On Thursday, June 7, BHGE signed a 5-year collaboration agreement with the University of Calabria, aimed at promoting collaboration between the two organizations on a set of academic initiatives focused on advancing the company’s manufacturing activities at the site by creating local know-how and capabilities. As part of this broader framework, we will build the foundations for joint research activities, lessons, scholarships, internships.

Giulio Ardini, Manufacturing Leader for TPS plants in Italy attended the signing ceremony together with Gino Mirocle Crisci, Dean of the University of Calabria. Giulio said: “We are proud to play a role in this collaboration, helping us to further strengthen our presence in the local community. In today’s fast changing world, it is extremely important to invest in R&D to gain competitiveness and protect the role of this facility as a center of excellence in the production of of air-coolers”.
