HRVRT service protects valuable equipment from perforation damage
EQT Production Company, working in Ohio, wanted to avoid damaging its fiber optic cable installation during perforating operations in a horizontal well. It was critical to correctly position the perforation charges away from the cable to avoid costly damage.
EQT contacted Baker Hughes, a GE company (BHGE), for help in detecting the blast protector hardware placed on the outside of the casing. BHGE, using its HRVRT™ high-resolution Vertilog™ service was able to detect the unique features of the external blast protector hardware. The BHGE ControlView™ control-line detection service was used to accurately provide orientation of the cable in relation to the high side of the borehole.
